A ring magnet is a type of magnet whose magnetic field is oriented in a ring shape. In electric motors, ring magnets are commonly used as the stator. They generate torque by interacting with the permanent magnets on the rotor, thus driving the motor. Specifically, when the motor is energized, the magnetic field of the ring magnet produces a rotating magnetic field. This rotating magnetic field interacts with the permanent magnets on the rotor, generating torque that drives the motor to rotate.
